Ephemeral Designs 831 is for Everyone.
At Ephemeral Designs 831, we are deeply committed to ensuring our products and online presence are accessible to all. Our brand philosophy centers on designing consumer products that focus on building capacity and accessibility into people's daily lives. As a neurodivergent founder, Sami Chen understands firsthand the importance of inclusive design and strives to create a welcoming and usable experience for everyone.
Our site proudly features the Ally accessibility widget in the bottom right corner of the screen on desktop and mobile (blue, round icon). This allows you to customize your display, contrast, motion reduction, and font settings to meet your specific needs. Our visuals include a mix of photos and artwork, aiming for a clear and engaging experience.
Our Commitment to Inclusive Design
Products with Mobility Aid Users in Mind. We are dedicated to providing consumer products with mobility aid users in mind. This includes special artwork and designs for canes, crutches, walkers, rollators, and wheelchairs. Our mobility aid wraps and covers are designed for both style and durability.
Custom Clothing for Support Needs. For individuals with medical conditions and disabilities requiring custom or accessible clothing options, we are happy to work with you. We start with clothing that has your support needs built in and tailor our designs to match your specific requirements.
Leveraging Design Thinking. We actively leverage design thinking to expand accessibility and capacity in daily life, ensuring our solutions are user-centered and effective.
Fostering Awareness & Understanding
Our brand is built on a foundation of empathy and education. We are committed to:
Raising Awareness for Chronic Illnesses and Disabilities: We aim to bring more visibility and understanding to the experiences of individuals living with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Acknowledging Neurodiversity: As a dyslexic, ADHD, and autistic founder, Sami Chen understands the diverse ways people perceive and interact with the world. This personal insight informs our design choices and overall brand approach.
Inclusive Collaborations: We actively collaborate with creative people who identify as disabled, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, or women for special collections, amplifying diverse voices and perspectives.
Website Accessibility
We are continually working to improve the accessibility of our website.
Dyslexia-Friendly Fonts: We specifically use Lexend font throughout the site for visual clarity. This font with a little more spacing between letters is much easier for Sami, and others with dyslexia, to read.
Visual Accessibility: Our imagery can draw from a combination of photos Sami has taken and artwork she’s done, including a Google Photos album of spring ephemerals, aiming for clear and engaging visuals.
We are always open to feedback on how we can improve the accessibility of our products and website. Please contact us with any suggestions or concerns.
